The John Speck Memorial Library consists of one the nation's largest collections of mountaineering books, guides, pamphlets, and journals. It also contains materials related to the Club’s history, and serves as an archive for other Club records. The library's is located at First Ascent Climbing Gym, 701 Rohlwing Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.

CMC Members will be allowed to checkout books from the library. Patron accounts can be created at library open days, but can also be created online by filling out our
Account Creation Form.

The CMC library is run by volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering with the library, please contact the Librarian below. Library assistants can help run open library days, process returns, organize the collection, and improve the online catalog.
